Research & Business - Transitioning Innovation to Commercial Success
Despite Micro Systems Technology promising exciting and novel ways to monitor the quality of food and beverages making them a commercial reality is notoriously difficult. There are many reasons why promising systems fail to reach the market but is it possible to understand and mitigate these risks early on?
Understanding the target market, their needs and wants is important when setting out target system specifications and architecture. While scientific capabilities can limit what is possible, developing a route that leads to a final system that is crucially flawed in its market application should be avoided at all costs. A research and innovation project can tackle these challenges and experiences with the SYMPHONY project and the dairy industry are used to illustrate how it can be approached.
